Welcome to Pershore Carnival

Our Story

About Us

Pershore Carnival is held annually on Spring Bank Holiday Monday * - its current form started in 1968. Following the tragic drowning of a Pershore child in the River Avon the people of Pershore got together to raise funds to build a new swimming pool. This was done through a series of events in the town, including the Pershore Town Carnival as well as many others. The Avon Valley Swimming Pool Association (AVSPA) was formed, driven by local people and fundraising events continued to raise money for the new pool. The Pershore Carnival continued annually and, through the goodwill of the People of Pershore and the local area in combination with the other events, AVSPA raised the target amount to build the new pool, which Princess Alexandra officially opened in the heart of the town on King George Fields.

Pershore Carnival has continued in various forms since then and today is stronger than ever, with local people and children from the schools in the area taking an active part every year and building the most fantastic floats to show off their skills. Carnival Day starts with a parade of floats through the Town of Pershore to the grounds of Abbey Park where there are stalls and entertainment to suit all ages, including a funfair and food stalls.

Each year, the Carnival donates money raised through the bucket collection to local charities and the local community benefits through additional footfall in the town on the day of the Carnival

.

Pershore Carnival is a voluntary not for profit organisation run by volunteers who work hard to provide the people of Pershore with a fantastic day to remember.
